OF THE DAY

Published on April 28, 2014

Big weekend, lots of family here, and all those grandkids. Wild at times, for sure. And the weather stays rather chilly, partially due to a sharp wind around here lately.

Spring flowers push on nevertheless. However, they are like water running through my fingers because I don't have (translation: am not making) time to photograph them. I dreamed of these flowers all winter, and now I find myself head over heels involved with studio work and building the "Wellspring: Michigan Music Project." It is all good, so I tell myself, and a surprise too.

After all these years it seems I find myself seguing from nature photos (like the one shown here) to (Heaven Forbid!) people. I always joke that I like animals better than people, but that may be changing. It is about time, or so I tell myself.

Today my son Michael (and his partner Micah) are here and we are going to video-interview "Red Tail Ring," the musical duo of Michael Beauchamp and Laurel Premo, part of the incredible Earthwork Music Collective here in Michigan. Everyone arrived last evening and we sat around the living room while my two-year-old granddaughter Emma (who had a late nap) was determined to entertain us, and that she did.

We also had a rather extensive discussion of movies we have seen lately. I continue to be amazed at what different tastes people have in film and entertainment. If you tell me a music album or two you like, I can usually predict what else you might like, but with movies, it does not work that way. Tastes vary almost randomly when it comes to film.

Anyway, I fed the dogs and am getting ready to head down to the studio and begin rigging the lighting. Photography is all about light.
